b'FINANCE DEPARTMENTIn this issue, we catch up with our Finance Department as Deputy Finance Director Jimmy Bradley shares insights into his background and journey at Kelly Group. He also introduces our dedicated finance team,allofwhomhavebeenwithKellyGroupforover17years, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise acquired over the years. Journey Before Kelly GroupIn 1983 I became an accountant straight out of college (in Wales), moving to a Chartered Accountants firm in central London to do my training in accounting and auditing. Moving to London was a big move but in those days the unemployment rate was 11.5% and at the time, being an accountant seemed a secure career! The highlight of this job was auditing IMG in Monte Carlo and meeting Bjorn Borg in their main offices! In 1986 I moved to one of the key clients I had been auditing - Herts & Essex Newspapers Ltd who produced many weekly regional newspapers such as Hertfordshire Mercury, the Bishops Stortford Observer and the Harlow Star. I worked there for over 12 years, becoming their Finance Director. I remember when we started paying the production staff directly into their bank accounts as opposed to paying them in cashquite a few obstacles to overcome heremaking sure they had bank accounts but helping them with the cultural change was much more difficult! I was then moved (within the Group) to become the Finance Director of the Cambridge Evening News which was a daily regional newspaper. I met some wonderful colleagues during all these years and have remained good friends with many of them. After 3 wonderful years living in Cambridge, I moved back to London in 2001 to become the Financial Controller of the British Medical Journal (BMJ) working with Doctors, academics and business professionals in a fabulously historic building Tavistock House in Bloomsbury. This was a fascinating business, and the ownership (The British Medical Association) was so different from anything Id worked for before (and since!). They still had a tea trolley going around the buildings in the mornings and the afternoons, it all felt a bit like stepping back in time when you went through the main gate every morning.Life at Kelly GroupIn March 2003, I joined Kelly Group as Financial Controller. Transitioning from the publishing industry to telecommunications was an exciting change, and I quickly immersed myself in understanding the business and its key metrics for effective monitoring and reporting. I am now the Group Deputy Finance Director, marking my 21st year with Kelly Group! In my current role, I support Rosita and Gilly (our Financial Controller) and work with Lavinia on the payroll side of the department. This includes ensuring Kelly Group compliance with evolving HMRC regulations. 26 .The Networker Issue 15'
