b"GIGACLEARPhil Humble(Fibre Installation Engineer)Hello, my name is Phil Humble and I'm one of Kelly Group's Fibre Installation Engineers working on the Gigaclear contract. I started working for Kelly Group eight years ago. During this time, I spent fouryearsworkingonourOpenreachcontractacrossmultiple projects, including EWI works, and two years on an MDU build. For the past year, Ive been working on the Gigaclear contract. Before joining Kelly Group, I felt like I need a change in my careerThis experience has not only shaped my technical skills but also and nd an opportunity in a eld that allowed me to work outsidetaught me the value of teamwork and resilience. Im and stay physically active. When I read about the responsibilities ofexcited to continue my career with Kelly an engineer at Kelly Group, it seemed like a perfect t.Group and see where it takes me next. When I joined Kelly Group, I believe I was one of the last trainees to complete their training at the Dunstable site. The training was straightforward and easy to understand. As a practical learner, I took notes and focused on how to work in public areas with a high standard of safety and quality. I learned the most during my two weeks in the eld with my buddy. It was invaluable to apply the theory I had learned in our national training centres with someone guiding me during this period. Myday-to-daytaskshavevariedgreatlydependingonthe contract. On the Openreach, I ran connections from poles and completed internal installations. For EWI, I climbed scaolding to move drop wires for the council so they could ret new cladding tocouncilhouses.WhileworkingonMDUbuilds, mydays involved less travel, focusing on building a bre network inside blocks of ats. Now, on the Gigaclear contract, my work is similar to my initial contract with Openreach. I travel across the country to prepare overhead connections and get the network live, ready for the installation teams to arrive and complete the connection.28 .The Networker Summer 2024"
