Kelly Rail was proud to enter a team of 10 into this year’s Big Rail Diversity Challenge supporting the Women in Rail charity. The Big Rail Diversity Challenge delivers the Women in Rail undertaking by showing that gender diverse teams raise awareness for women working across the rail industry and the business benefits attained when companies improve gender balance.
Women in rail was created to improve diversity in the UK rail industry through providing network opportunities and support for all women within the sector, to encourage companies and stakeholders to adapt diversity as a business strategy and devising initiatives aimed at positioning rail as an attractive career choice for young people.
Adeline Ginn (Founder of Women in Rail) said…
“The Big Rail Diversity Challenge is an important step in the rail industry agenda. It openly tackles rail’s outdated image, demonstrates that the industry engages both men and women in equal measure and shows our sector’s commitment to improving gender balance, diversity and inclusion in order to create a more attractive, productive and successful workforce.”
Our Kelly Rail team partook in 12 physical, mental, and skill-based challenges over the course of the day including shelter building, hungry hippos, capa-bubble, and walk the plank. Teams had the chance to collect 20 points through each individual challenge and our team worked extremely hard throughout the day collecting 225 points and finished at 13th place out of 57 teams. A huge well done to our team members for pushing through all challenges and raising awareness for such an important cause.
