Kelly Group’s partnership with CityFibre - the UK’s largest independent Full Fibre network provider began in 2018 with just a single two-man crew completing residential installs in Milton Keynes. Prior to connecting CityFibre’s first customer to their full fibre network, Kelly Group supported the creation of the installation processes and choice of components used during weekly consultation sessions.
The Group’s current contract includes a large variety or installation activities from connecting customers, to site surveys, to fault finding and fixing and much more within the residential sector nationwide. The day-to-day running of this contract is managed by Paul Beardmore (CityFibre General Manager) and his management team.
Paul started his journey with Kelly Group 25 years ago as a trainee engineer. Over the years he was promoted from Engineer to Team Manager through various management roles and is currently General Manager of the CityFibre contract. When Paul took over the contract’s management, he had 10 two-man crews working at the time, which has since increased to 400 engineers nationwide delivering a fantastic full-fibre connection to thousands of customers each week. His extensive industry knowledge and experience greatly contribute to the success and growth of Kelly Group’s partnership with CityFibre.

“CityFibre’s high-quality digital infrastructure enables ISPs to serve ultra-reliable, gigabit-speed and future proof broadband, ethernet and 5G services to homes and businesses. When customers engage with service providers such as Vodaphone, Zen Internet or TalkTalk their contract will be with one of these brands and the service provider rents CityFibre’s network to connect their customer to a full-fibre service. They provide a stable network platform and offer excellent products to service providers including stable 1G upload and download speed without wavering to residential properties.

Throughout our close partnership with CityFibre, we’ve had endless opportunities to implement creative solutions to improve the overall workflow within this specific contract.
The Group is delighted to have designed bespoke training course manuals, tailored specifically to CityFibre’s network and the design of these is also a way to aid and assess the engineers at the start of their Kelly Group and CityFibre journey.
The CityFibre contract was the first client that we implemented a bespoke text messaging service for, that notifies customers of their dedicated two-hour time slot. This gives customers better flexibility and an increased customer experience. The technology is connected to the engineers' network termination equipment that triggers a series of messages to the customers throughout the day. This was designed in collaboration with the CityFibre management team.
The Group is also proud of our collaborative design process of a bespoke service that we offer on the installation of full-fibre Multi-Dwelling Units. When the first customer within an apartment complex requests a full fibre installation, it generates a survey request. A Kelly Group surveyor will assess the property and create a design pack which will allow our installation teams to provide a fibre network for the whole building to connect to. The implementation of this process has enabled Kelly Group to support CityFibre not only with connecting customers but expanding their network build too.
An Excellent Working Relationship and Partnership – Expansion Plans for 2022
Kelly Group is delighted to be CityFibre's partner of choice, supporting them in delivering the vision of a Gigabit Britain. The Group has been tasked to develop and execute an aggressive ramp-up plan for 2022 creating approximately 950 UK based jobs including FTTP engineers, cabling teams, fault technicians, MDU installation teams, management support teams, back-office support and new to field integration managers.
With significant investment in training facilities and training, our highly experienced and knowledgeable in-house training team will deliver bespoke training courses for over 35 new to field engineers every week across the UK.
