Colchester to Clacton Resignalling

The Colchester to Clacton Resignalling Scheme covered a section of the London to Norwich (LTN) mainline between Marks Tey and Ardleigh, the Clacton Branch Line and the Walton-on-Naze spur. To support the signalling renewal scheme, the Kelly Rail project scope included the full renewal of the existing telecom infrastructure. Network Rail contracted Siemens for the implementation of the telecoms renewal. Following a competitive tender process, Siemens awarded the work to Kelly Rail.

Scope of Work

The project required Kelly Rail to provide turnkey telecoms implementation services to Siemens for the renewal. The project was completed to programme and budget. A number of services were provided which included possession; planning and co-ordination; route works and troughing installation; fibre and copper joint bay installation; location case installation and retaining wall construction.

Kelly Rail installed transmission equipment housing: temporary equipment housing (TEH), re-locatable equipment building (REB) enabling works; craning into position and the installation of the REB. We also supplied and co-ordinated road-rail vehicles for delivery of materials and installation works, fibre optic, copper, tail and aluminium screening cable installation, DISAC cable, ground anchor and visibility tag installation.
