How long have you been working for the Kelly Group?
I joined Kelly Group 5 years ago.
What positions have you held throughout your tenure?
I started my career journey as PA to Directors at Kelly House, Wembley; after 3 years of assisting directors, I wanted to further my knowledge about the services Kelly Group provides for our clients. I was delighted when I had the opportunity to move to our Brimsdown depot as a Yard Supervisor and received training on national audits for our plant department. I completed various training, including civils supervisor and signing, lighting and guarding course allowing me to work on civils projects. I am currently working as an auditor for our Community Fibre contract however, I would love to be more involved in civils works in the future and build a career within that sector.
What does a typical week look like?
I work through a map; I need to check installations completed by our engineers focusing on the underground works and telecommunication poles, open up chambers and document how cables are tagged, what cables were introduced and report back to our office.
Do you have any set goals in mind for the next 12 months?
I am currently working towards purchasing a holiday home in Cyprus. I have friends living there, I love their cuisine – think it’s delicious and it is a beautiful country. It would be the perfect place to go and relax when my time allows.
What three words best describe your role?
Before working for Kelly Group, what was the most unusual or interesting job you have ever had?
I’ve been working as a shot girl on weekends for 6 years now, which in my opinion is an interesting job because I get to meet so many different people of all ages. They always have a fun story to share. A fun fact is that I used to work at Kelly’s Bar before I joined The Group.
If you could switch your job with anyone else for one week, whose job would you want to experience?
I would like to experience Rory Cowan’s job for a day because it would be interesting to experience the work that goes into developing a new contract and liaising with our clients. It’s a very important stage of developing our brand and not many people know how much work goes into acquiring new contract awards. But I only want to do it for a day!
What advice do you have for new Kelly Group employees coming into the business?
Be consistent with your work. There are so many opportunities to discover within the company and if you work hard, Kelly Group is a company who supports you throughout your career journey whether you are an engineer or work in one of the offices.
What 3 words would your friends / family use to describe you?
What is your proudest moment (personal or professional)?
I’m very proud of my achievements when I was training in the gym. I had no idea how much I’ll love it until I started to discover the gym and how your body works. It was an interesting process, and I was very proud when I was able to lift double my body weight. Fun fact: I am also a qualified hairdresser and eyelash technician.
