Safety Tips of The Month – Safe Driving During Winter
When driving your vehicle during winter, you need to consider different weather conditions. By adopting a slower driver behaviour style, you can increase your chances to avoid incidents. Driving slower and leaving twice as big of a gap between your vehicle and the one in front will allow a longer reaction time and keep you safe as braking distances are much longer on icy roads. Ice and snow can reduce your tyre grip on roads during winter. Try avoiding sudden inputs with the accelerator, brakes or steering as it can cause you to lose control over your vehicle.
Introducing Zane – This Month’s Winner
Zane started his journey with Kelly Group as one of our poling operatives on the ONSA poling project just over a year ago. His responsibilities include driving a PEU vehicle and operating the crane in a safe manner while erecting poles ensuring each job is completed to the highest standards.
“I wasn’t expecting to win the £1000 award, but it was nice to be recognised for my hard work and dedication towards safe driving. I enjoy working on-site and the driving element of my job as no two days are the same and there’s always something new to learn within this trade. I am hoping that my story will inspire other engineers to adopt a safer driver behaviour.”
Andrew Dean – Driving Risk Manager Said…
“I met Zane just over a year ago when he joined Kelly Group during the driver induction course. He has a very likeable and friendly personality, and I instantly grew to like him. Once he completed his induction course, I organised a meeting with Zane to review his driving style and give him a few tips on how to improve it.
Shortly after our meeting, I was happy to welcome him to Kelly Group’s Elite Drivers Club. Since then, he has consistently been one of our top drivers regardless of the challenging roads and driving conditions he needs to face as a PEU (Pole Erection Unit) driver.
He is a fantastic asset to the group with his positive attitude and personality alongside his safe driving. It was my pleasure to present him with the £1000 prize.”
We have seen fantastic results from the workforce over the past 11 months and the number of Elite Drivers is constantly increasing nationwide.
